About the Community Service Ministries
The Community Service Ministries carry the mission of HPCUMC to our neighborhood, our communities, our city, and the world. These ministries are truly Christian love in action, whether they involve painting an orphanage in Samara, Russia, housing and feeding a homeless family at the Erie building, delivering a Thanksgiving basket to poor family, speaking before city council to oppose the elimination of social service funding, organizing a forum to explore the plight of the working poor, helping a New Orleans family clean out their hurricane flooded home, mentoring a youngster whose parent is in prison, leading a scout troop, organizing a singles social function, serving as a Stephen Minister to someone facing a painful personal crisis—or a host of other programs and projects. |
"For
I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you
gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed
me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and
you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me."
-Matthew 25:35-36 |
The list of opportunities to express your love of Christ and fulfill your commitment to serve your church in the broader community grows and changes as the needs of both the community and congregation members change. Check often for new projects and details of special events.
|
“Dreams can come true if we have faith and believe that with God, we each have the power to make things better for ourselves and our community.”
--Donna Mobley, owner, Shalom VII

The Walk
to Emmaus is a 3-day, exciting Christian experience
that renews Christian discipleship and takes a look
at Christianity as a lifestyle. The long weekend centers
around singing, prayer and worship with lots of personal
fellowship and small group discussion. HPCUMC hosts
6 walks per year, three each for men and women. |
